The Season 64 Free Agent Leftovers Team
At the end of each offseason you can find a number of quality ML Free Agents still looking for contracts. Often times these players are attached to a Type A designation but sometimes teams just run out of cash and good players go unsigned. This year I've put together a full 25 man ML roster full of players that were not signed prior to the end of the Free Agency cycles. You'll notice that a few of these players have already been signed, but the transaction dates will show these players were unsigned as of the 1/17 PM2 cycle.
Lineup
1B Dennis Washburn (Age: 32 | Rating: 73 | Asking: $2.1 / 2 years)
Good Power and Contact to go along with plus defense at 1B.
2B Darren Reed (Age: 31 | Rating: 78 | Asking: $2.5 / 2 years / Type A)
Defense and power are slipping a bit but Reed is still a productive player. The Type A is scaring teams away but for a team with a high draft pick he could be a great addition this season.
3B Jordany Martin (Age: 32 | Rating: 73 | Asking: $2.4 / 2 Years / Type B)
Good defender and has just enough power to be a productive hitter.
SS Rougned Franco (Age: 30 | Rating: 67 | Asking: $2.0 / 2 Years)
Durability is low but the bat is the best you'll find attached to these elite defensive ratings.
LF Esmerling Tabaka (Age: 34 | Rating: 70 | Asking: $4.0 / 1 Year)
Tabaka's asking price is stuck at $4.0 and that's likely the reason he remains unsigned.
CF Darren Thomas (Age: 30 | Rating: 74 | Asking: $2.3 / 2 Years / Type B)
A great defender, would platoon with Joe Thurman if I were playing out this season.
RH Christopher Jacobs (Age: 31 | Rating: 76 | Asking: $2.6 / 2 Years / Type A)
Will rake lefties and is another good defender in this lineup.
C Carlos Tatis (Age: 37 | Rating: 63 | Asking: $570k / 1 Year)
Good splits and another good defensive player.
Bench
C Alan Mahomes (Age: 37 | Rating: 61 | Asking: $675k)
CF Joe Thurman (Age: 33 | Rating: 75 | Asking: $2.3 / 2 Years / Type B)
3B Gail Forrester (Age: 33 | Rating: 74 | Asking: $2.1 / 2 Years)
SS Peter Chong (Age: 33 | Rating: 63 | Asking: $930K / 2 Years)

Starters
SP1 Harry Olivares (Age: 38 | Rating: 68 | Asking: $1.9 / 1 Year)
SP2 Tyler Rogers (Age: 34 | Rating: 72 | Asking: $1.7 / 1 Year)
SP3 Julio Belisario (Age: 32 | Rating: 70 | Asking: $1.7 / 2 Years)
SP4A Jeff O'Niel (Age: 30 | Rating: 69 | Asking: $2.0 / 1 Year)
SP4B Gregory Coste (Age: 37 | Rating: 73 | Asking: $2.4 / 1 Year / Type A)
Pretty solid group of pitchers! No aces of course but the splits all above 68 with some quality pitches. Secondary pitchers are a problem and pairing this staff with a couple of catchers with elite defensive ratings would improve performance.
Bullpen
LRA Yamid Ayala (Age: 31 | Rating: 75 | Asking: $2.8 / 2 Years / Type A)
LRA Saul Maduro (Age: 27 | Rating: 69 | Asking: $2.2 / 2 Years)
LRB Pep Mather (Age: 37 | Rating 64 | Asking: $1.5 / 2 Years)
SUA Chang-Yong Suzuki (Age: 37 | Rating: 59 | Asking: $860K / 1 Year)
SUA Pete Kirk (Age: 36 | Rating: 69 | Asking: $1.7 / 1 Year / Type B)
SUA Chul Okajima (Age: 37 | Rating: 64 | Asking: $1.4 / 2 Years)
SUB John Shawler (Age: 38 | Rating: 60 | Asking: $1.0 / 1 Year)
SUB Ricardo Oliveros (Age: 38 | Rating: 59 | Asking: $800k / 1 Year)
Thoughts
The team above is not a good team but in the right division they could be a ~.500 team. The defense would be as good as any in the World and the pitching would be around league average. Hitting would likely be an issue with only 1 player with a Power rating over 80 and some pretty meh splits.
There are some decent players in there. They could be solid backups or fillers. Thanks for the blog post!! Love it!
